About Paper Rock Scissors Art Studios
Paper Rock Scissors Art Studios is a family-run art school with two bright studios in Sydney's Inner West, one on Darling Street in Rozelle and one in the Summer Hill Flour Mill development. Founder Prue Burnstein came to art teaching from the fashion world, and alongside kids' classes the studios run relaxed evening sessions for adults, built around a canvas, a cheese board and whatever wine the group brings along. A private paint and sip workshop runs for about two hours and suits groups of 10 up to 24 people at either studio. Easels, canvas, paints and aprons are supplied, a teacher leads the painting step by step, and the table is set with cheese, fruit and chocolates while guests pour their own drinks. Hens parties can pick a theme to suit the bride, or switch to pottery or jewellery, and the team can bring the whole set-up to a house, hotel or Airbnb. For Christmas, groups can choose painting or a festive craft such as silver jewellery, a native wreath, printed bags or pottery. Corporate bookings cover team building, end-of-year celebrations, client events and product launches, held at a studio or brought to your office or venue, again from ten guests with no fixed upper limit for off-site events. Families can also book kids' birthday parties on weekends, with a painting, sewing or pottery project and time at the end for cake. Both studios are wheelchair accessible and have off-street parking, usually with a two-hour limit.

Frequently asked questions
How many people do we need for a private paint and sip?
Private workshops need at least 10 people, and both the Rozelle and Summer Hill studios can fit up to 24. Larger corporate groups can be run off-site by arrangement.
How much does a paint and sip party cost?
Paint and sip, hens and Christmas workshops start at $70 a head plus GST. Corporate events are quoted on request through the studio's enquiry form.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes, all drinks are BYO. The studio provides a cheese board, fruit and chocolates at every workshop, and extra catering can be organised for hens and Christmas events.
Can you come to us for a hens party?
Yes. Hens parties can be held at either studio, or the team can bring the workshop to your chosen spot, whether that is a home, a hotel or an Airbnb.
What should guests wear?
Aprons and all materials are provided, but paint can still find its way onto clothes, so leave anything precious at home and wear something you don't mind marking.
