Birthday Party Venues on the Northern Beaches

Choosing the Right Birthday Party Venue

From a floating lounge at Palm Beach to a brewery floor in Brookvale, birthday options on the Northern Beaches are spread across very different pockets, and picking the area first narrows the choice quickly. Manly gathers a rooftop, a basement speakeasy, a sailing club and waterfront dining around the cove; Brookvale's industrial streets hold two breweries and a gin distillery; the beachfront and the region's western edge supply the more unusual settings. How the peninsula's pockets suit a birthday:

Manly for a night out: Rooftop Garden Bar @ New Brighton Hotel books out the whole roof on The Corso for 75, The Cumberland hides a 75-seat basement behind a deli fridge door, and Hugos Manly can be hired whole for 150 on Manly Wharf.
Brookvale for a casual crowd: 7th Day Brewery on Powells Road charges nothing to book its party areas, and 4 Pines Truck Bar on Winbourne Road hosts anywhere from 20 guests up to 180 beside the brew tanks.
Brookvale, but private: Seadrift Distillery on Sydenham Road is hired whole, with a long table for 27 set among five copper pot stills.
Sand and water: Cabana Beach Kiosk sits on the beach at Narrabeen for 50 standing, Lilypad Palm Beach floats off Snapperman Lane for up to 24, and Jonah's, on the cliffs above Whale Beach, opens its restaurant, terrace and gardens to 122.
Room for everyone: Gardens @ Miramare Gardens in Terrey Hills puts up to 500 on a private lawn, Manly Pavilion's downstairs Cove fits 300 standing over the water, and Pittwater RSL in Mona Vale has a 500-capacity auditorium.

Costs follow the style of venue. Per-head packages start from $39 per person at 4 Pines, $50 per person at Cabana, $55 per person at Stowaway, $82 per person at The Basin Dining Room and $90 per person at Manly Pavilion and Hugos Manly, climbing to from $285 per person for Lilypad. The Manly rooftop runs from $3,500 minimum spend and the distillery from $1,500 venue hire, while 7th Day Brewery has no area hire fee.

An 18th or 21st: 4 Pines has a pool table, an arcade up on the mezzanine and local musicians on stage from Friday to Sunday, and 7th Day's Alley adds vintage arcade machines, foosball and a photo booth.
A 30th or 40th built around cocktails: exclusive hire of The Cumberland gives the group the candlelit sandstone room and a back bar of more than 250 whiskies, while Elvina's covered Terrace in Avalon Village takes 50 standing.
A 60th or 70th with the extended family: Harbourview Room & Atrium @ Manly Skiff Club runs five-hour events with cake cutting included, and at The Racquet Club in Elanora Heights the squash courts keep younger relatives busy while adults stay on the heated deck.
A daytime celebration: Lilypad's sessions run from midday to 5pm, with BYO drinks and no corkage charge. At Dee Why Bowling Club, the downstairs Bowls Bar is from $250 room hire, and a 90-minute game of barefoot bowls can be added on the greens.

Before you lock in a date

Bringing a cake: Stowaway allows one of your own if you pay a small per-head fee, the Skiff Club includes cake cutting, and Manly Pavilion charges a small cakeage fee per person.
Weather: 7th Day's beer garden and courtyard can't be reserved in bad weather, so the Boardroom or Cosy Corner is the safer pick for a winter birthday.
Your own food: Seadrift and Lilypad both let you bring in a caterer, with kitchen facilities on hand.
Guests from the city: Manly Wharf is roughly a five-minute stroll from the Skiff Club, so the ferry from Circular Quay does the heavy lifting, and Hugos Manly is only steps from the ferry.

Common Questions About Venues for Birthday Parties

Which Northern Beaches venue suits a birthday for 150 or more?

Gardens @ Miramare Gardens holds up to 500 on their feet or 310 at tables, from $99 per person, with halal, kosher, vegan and gluten-free menus. In Brookvale, 4 Pines Truck Bar says it can take up to 180 across the brewery. On the water in Manly, Manly Pavilion's Cove takes 300 cocktail-style or 200 seated, and Hugos Manly can be booked whole for 150 on the wharf. The biggest rooms belong to the clubs: 500 fit in both Dee Why RSL's Showroom and Pittwater RSL's Rock Lilly.

Yes. Narrabeen's Cabana Beach Kiosk is on the sand, hired whole for 50 standing or 30 seated. Lilypad Palm Beach floats on the water for up to 24, and the Skiff Club's Harbourview Room & Atrium, from $69 per person, opens onto a covered deck over the water of Manly Cove. Garfish Manly faces the cove across East Esplanade, and every restaurant table at Jonah's looks out over Whale Beach and the Pacific.

Is there a Northern Beaches birthday venue with no booking fee?

7th Day Brewery in Brookvale charges nothing to book an area and sets no minimum bar spend. It can run a bar tab and switch to pay-as-you-go once the tab is used, and the Alley and Boardroom join up for up to 100.

Which birthday venues on the beaches can be booked exclusively?

The New Brighton rooftop in Manly is only ever booked as a whole floor, and The Cumberland, Seadrift Distillery, Cabana Beach Kiosk and Lilypad Palm Beach can all be hired outright for one group.
