About Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club
Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club sits directly on the sand at Avalon Beach, on Barrenjoey Road. Its upstairs event spaces, the Bangalley Bar and the Ocean Room, look over the ocean, the dunes and the headland. The Bangalley Bar takes the top-floor north-east corner of the club. White and timber finishes and wide glass doors open onto a covered wraparound balcony, and the room holds 120 for a cocktail party or 60 seated. The Ocean Room next door is a large pillarless space with floor-to-ceiling glass and its own balcony. It seats 140 or holds 180 standing, and the internal walls slide back to join both rooms for exclusive whole-venue hire of up to 300. The club is licensed but doesn't cater, so you bring your own caterer or ask for a local recommendation. Grazing stations, platters, buffets or a BBQ on the balcony all work, and there is a kitchen next door. Drinks come from the club bar at reasonable prices, with no BYO. Rather than set packages, you pick a tab limit that suits your budget. A TV, drop-down projector screen and cordless microphone run through the ceiling speakers, and the rooms are wheelchair accessible by lift. Send an enquiry to book.

How many guests can the club hold?
The Bangalley Bar holds 120 for cocktails or 60 seated. The Ocean Room seats 140 or holds 180 standing, and the two combine for up to 300.
Can we bring our own caterer?
Yes. The club doesn't run its own catering, so you choose a caterer, and the team can suggest local vendors. A kitchen and balcony BBQ are available.
Is there a minimum spend?
No. The spaces can be hired on their own or together with no minimum spend, and there are no fixed drinks packages.
Are any events not accepted?
The club doesn't take 18th or 21st birthdays, or hens and bucks nights. Security is required for teenage parties for guests aged 15 and over and for events over 200 guests.
What AV is available?
There is a flat-screen TV and a larger drop-down projector screen for HDMI or VGA devices, plus a cordless microphone linked to the ceiling speakers. Musicians are welcome.
