About Simple Ceremonies
Simple Ceremonies is a celebrant business based at Milsons Point, set up to make getting legally married quick and inexpensive. Rather than one celebrant, it has a team of its own marriage celebrants who conduct the ceremonies, and couples book the whole thing online: pick a location from the list (or suggest one), choose a date and time, and pay one all-inclusive fee. It positions itself as an alternative to the government registry office for elopements and small weddings, but also handles larger ceremonies. The Notice of Intended Marriage is completed in the couple's online portal and can be signed and witnessed by video, so no hard copies or interviews are needed. It must be done at least one calendar month before the ceremony. A few days before the date, the celebrant phones to say hello and answer questions. On the day they gather the guests, present the ceremony with vows and a ring exchange, have the certificates signed, offer to take a group photo and register the marriage with NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages. Listed locations include harbour reserves, beaches and venues around Sydney, plus spots on the Central Coast, in the Blue Mountains, the Illawarra, Newcastle and the Hunter. Commitment and baby naming ceremonies can also be requested. After booking, couples can add extras through the portal, such as photographers, chairs and decorations, flowers, cars and catering.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Simple Ceremonies wedding cost?
Standard park, harbour and beach locations are about $300 to $350 all-inclusive, custom locations around $450 to $675, and some venues are priced individually on the location list.
How many guests can attend?

Do we need to meet the celebrant before the ceremony?
No interview or meeting is required. Paperwork is done in your online portal, and your celebrant calls a couple of days before the ceremony to talk through any questions.
How is the Notice of Intended Marriage handled?
You complete the NoIM online in the Simple Ceremonies portal, get your signature witnessed over video and upload the signed form. It must be lodged at least one calendar month before the date.
Can we add a photographer or decorations?
Yes. After booking, the portal lists add-ons from partner suppliers, including photographers, chairs and decorations, flowers, cars, rings and catering, depending on the location.
