About Weddings I Do
Weddings I Do is the celebrancy of Janet Lomax, a full-time civil marriage celebrant based in Balmain with more than 14 years of experience. Her ceremonies are relaxed and inclusive, written to reflect each couple's story with plenty of romance and laughter. Alongside traditional weddings she runs elopements, same-sex ceremonies, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies, plus Legals Only signings at her home office in Balmain. Every wedding package carries the same inclusions, so the only thing that changes is the day of the week. You get a wireless PA and microphone that connects to a phone for music, registration of the marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages, an online rehearsal in the week of the wedding, a meeting to sign the legal forms and a handwritten certificate. Janet arrives 45 minutes before the ceremony so everything is set up before guests arrive, and travel and parking within Sydney are covered, apart from water taxis. Planning begins with a free first conversation, either over Zoom or face to face in Balmain. Janet then takes you through the Notice of Intended Marriage and the other legal documents and helps shape the ceremony using her planning folder, which holds more than 60 vow options, around 150 readings and plenty of ceremony ideas. Couples from overseas can complete the notice before they travel, and she can post the certificate abroad. Outside celebrancy she writes children's books and paints, which goes some way to explaining the care she puts into the words.

How much does Weddings I Do charge?
Full wedding ceremonies are $700 on Mondays, $800 Tuesday to Thursday and $900 Friday to Sunday. A Legals Only ceremony at her Balmain home office is $650.
What is included in each package?
A wireless PA and microphone with music connection, registration with Births, Deaths and Marriages, an online rehearsal, a signing meeting for the legal forms and a handwritten certificate.
Is travel included?
Travel and parking at Sydney venues are included, except water taxis. Janet also takes weddings in Wollongong, the Hunter Valley, the Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands.
Can we marry in Sydney if we live overseas?
Yes. Australian residency is not required, the Notice of Intended Marriage can be witnessed in your home country before the trip, and Janet can post your certificate overseas.
Does Janet do vow renewals and commitment ceremonies?
Yes. She writes personal vow renewals and commitment ceremonies, the latter with bespoke vows and rituals but no legal marriage paperwork.
