About Mr Hendrix Photography
Mr Hendrix Photography is the Newcastle business of James Howarth, who photographs weddings and engagements full time and came to Australia by way of England and New Zealand. The name comes from one of his sons. James cares more about couples feeling at ease than about posing them, so the pictures come from real laughter and genuine moments rather than instructions to say cheese. He works alongside a few photographers who share the same natural approach, including Newcastle photographer Kate Olivia, Jaden Cavanagh and Chris Perkins. Couples with a large guest list or several locations can book a second shooter, anywhere from one extra hour up to a whole day. There are no off-the-shelf bundles. Each package is shaped around your timeline, whether that is a few hours or getting ready right through to the dance floor, and payments can be spread out in instalments. Engagement sessions take place wherever suits you, and the site shares ideas on outdoor Newcastle venues for natural light. After the wedding there is no cap on the number of images delivered, and couples are free to print and share them. Fine art albums are made to order on thick matte paper, with a choice of covers. For the reception, a family-run Newcastle booth business can set up a photo booth staffed by an assistant, with a full-length backdrop, fun props and printed strips. James also travels for weddings in the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens.

Frequently asked questions
What does Newcastle wedding photography with Mr Hendrix cost?
Tailored packages begin at $2800. Most couples invest between $3,500 and $4,500 to capture everything from getting ready to the dance floor.
Is there a limit on how many photos we receive?
No. Rather than working to a fixed count, James delivers every image of your day that meets his standard, and you can print and share them freely.
When will our gallery be ready?
Allow up to six weeks, especially during the September to December wedding rush. A few sneak peeks normally come through well before the full gallery.
Can we add a photo booth to our Newcastle reception?
Yes. The related booth business offers packages from $695 for three hours with an assistant, backdrop, props and unlimited prints, and prices may be lower alongside a wedding booking.
Can we spread the cost of our photography?
Yes. James is happy to agree a payment plan over a timeframe that works for you, so the cost does not land all at once.
