About Rope & Pulley
Behind Rope & Pulley are Katy and Matt, husband and wife, who photograph and film Newcastle weddings as one team. Katy, who used to teach art and photography, leads the stills, and Matt moves between camera and film. Between them they have covered more than 200 weddings, plenty of them in Newcastle itself. Their manner is easy-going: little posing, lots of natural light, a joke when nerves show, and a step back when a moment needs space. Newcastle venues they know well include Merewether Surfhouse, whose balcony catches golden hour over the ocean, along with Ravella, The White Room and The Edwards. Anywhere inside a 1.5-hour drive of Newcastle has no travel cost, which takes in Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley, and a small fee applies further out. Photography packages range from $4,900 to $6,500, and film packages from $4,900 to $6,900. A film booking brings a videographer plus a dedicated editor and colourist, a cinematic edit of seven to ten minutes, licensed music, drone shots and the raw audio of your ceremony and speeches. Fusion combines photo and film for the full day from $8,900. An engagement session is $700 alongside a wedding booking, and printed albums begin at $1,300. The pair plan your timeline with you before the day, so one person directs and the other follows. A mini gallery is sent within seven days, and the finished film is delivered within 10 to 13 weeks.
