About Lily and Mae
Lily and Mae began as a floristry studio and now designs the whole look of a wedding or event, not just the arrangements. It takes on work in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie as well as out in the Hunter Valley. Founder Lily Johnson won a scholarship to train at Pearson's School of Floristry and has since designed hundreds of weddings, one of them in the south of France. She starts by getting to know the couple, the room and the time of year, then designs the flowers so they tell one consistent story. The studio offers two services. Floral design starts from $4,500 and includes a design consultation, a mood board, use of the studio's vase and vessel collection, and florists on site on the day. Styling starts from $4,000 and brings in two consultations plus the the tables and linen, the candles and lighting, stationery, furniture and decorative pieces, with Lily and Mae organising any outside hire and running the bump-in and bump-out. Recent weddings show the range: summer dahlias in watermelon tones and lemon roses with cosmos at Redleaf Wollombi, and long Roman-feast tables dressed in burgundy and ivory at Wallalong House. An editorial at Albion Farm Gardens sent garden roses tumbling down sandstone steps. Brands, agencies and hospitality venues can book launches, activations, styled shoots and private events, which start at a $1,000 minimum. A tailored quote and proposal comes back two to five business days after you enquire, and the date is held once a 30% deposit is paid. Booked clients use an online portal for contracts, invoices and questionnaires, and meet Lily for one or two design consultations before the day.
