Kim is a wedding and function florist with a studio in Newcastle, and she has designed the flowers for more than 500 events of every size. Her own style tends to be feminine, classic and a little whimsical, but each order is built around the couple and the feel they want. Alongside Newcastle, she works at venues in Port Stephens and on the Central Coast, and much of her calendar is spent at wine-country venues as well. As a full-service florist she can look after everything with petals on it: the bride's bouquet, buttonholes and hair flowers, the ceremony pieces and the reception arrangements. Her gallery includes generous floral arches, runners of flowers along long tables and showpieces for the bridal table, in palettes from soft blush to deep red and clean white. Before each wedding the stems are ordered from growers and wholesalers, then conditioned and arranged at the studio. The pricing is straightforward. Orders collected from the Newcastle studio need to reach $350, which covers a bouquet and a buttonhole, and setups at the venue start at $1,500. Delivery to two addresses, setting up and packing down the next day are shown as one itemised fee, and shifting ceremony pieces across to the reception is priced separately. A 30 per cent booking fee holds the date, numbers are finalised two weeks beforehand, and three packages can be emailed on request. Kim also hires out arbours, plinths, vases, draping, easels, candles and tealights, which means the setting can be quoted with the flowers. Talking by phone or meeting at the studio costs nothing, and a quoting visit to the venue is $65.
