About Unreal Parties
Unreal Parties runs children's birthday parties from upstairs premises at 273 High Street in Ashburton, reached through the toy shop below. The parties are fully hosted, so parents arrive, enjoy the celebration and leave the cleaning behind. There are two themed rooms. The Enchanted Room, aimed at children aged about 3 to 6, is painted with fairy-tale murals and suits princess, mermaid, fairy, pirate, dinosaur and unicorn themes. The Disco Room is for roughly 6 to 11 year olds, with dark walls, coloured lights and space to dance. Themes there include dance and disco, superheroes, pyjama parties and a spooky disco. Each party runs for an hour and a half. Hosts in costume lead themed music and stories, games with prizes, bubbles and magic tricks, or pop music, glow sticks and dance-offs in the disco room. The package includes traditional party snacks, a choice of hot food, a themed tree of iced cupcakes (one per child), lolly bags, a small gift for every guest and a wrapped present for the birthday child. Parents can wait in the adjoining room, with a coffee tab and platters available to order. A craft activity, such as decorating masks or gingerbread cookies, can be added to any party. How much does a party cost?
The all-inclusive package is $550 for up to 10 children, with each extra child $25. A craft activity can be added for $5 per child.
What ages are the rooms suited to?
The Enchanted Room is designed for children aged about 3 to 6, and the Disco Room for about 6 to 11. Parties suit boys and girls from 3 to 11.
Can we bring our own cake or food?
You can bring a birthday cake for singing and photos, but it is not served on site, so bring bags to send slices home. Outside food is not allowed, except by prior arrangement for children with allergies.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, a $75 deposit secures the booking and is not refundable. Moving the date may be possible if you ask a week or more ahead of the booked date.
Can parents stay during the party?
Yes. The host parent stays for the whole party, and guest parents are welcome in the adjoining room if there is space, with a coffee tab and parent platters available.
