About The Wine Room @ Lamaro's Hotel
Lamaro's Hotel is a gastropub on leafy Cecil Street in South Melbourne, with public transport close by and parking available. Alongside its bar and dining areas it runs several function spaces, and the Wine Room is the one set up purely for private seated dining. The room is lined with built-in wine racks and marble-look walls, and the centrepiece is a single dark-stained white oak table that seats up to 24 guests together. Because everyone sits at the one table, it works well for a milestone birthday dinner, an anniversary, a board dinner or a long lunch with clients, where the group wants to talk across the table rather than spread out. The room has its own AV, so a slideshow, a short presentation or a screening can run alongside the meal. A minimum spend of $2,000 applies, and it goes towards food and drink. Groups usually choose a set menu: the chef's Feed Me menu of shared dishes at $75 per person for two courses or $85 for three, or fixed menus at $90 and $100 per person with choices such as steak tartare, veal schnitzel, risotto and scotch fillet. Drinks can run on a bar tab with a limit you set, or on a three or four hour package. For something more elaborate, the kitchen and sommelier will design a degustation-style dinner for up to 24 guests at the same $2,000 minimum.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests fit in the Wine Room?
Up to 24 guests, all seated together at one long oak table. It is a seated dining room rather than a standing space.
What is the minimum spend for the Wine Room?
The Wine Room has a minimum spend of $2,000, which is put towards food and drinks. If the spend is not reached, the shortfall is charged as room hire.
What menus are available?
Groups of 12 or more dine from a set menu: Feed Me at $75 per person for two courses or $85 for three, or set menus at $90 and $100 per person. A bespoke degustation can also be designed with the chef and sommelier. Most dishes can be adapted for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests if you let the team know ahead.
How do drinks work?
You can set up a bar tab with a limit and a chosen range of drinks, or take a package. The standard package is $80 per person for three hours or $95 for four, and the premium package is $95 for three hours or $115 for four, each with tap beer, four wines, soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee.
Can we bring our own cake, and how is the booking secured?
Celebration cakes and cupcakes are welcome with a $5 per person cakeage fee; no other outside food or drink is allowed. A tentative hold lasts seven days, and the booking is confirmed with signed terms and a deposit that comes off the final bill.
