About The Pavilion @ Auburn Hotel
The Auburn Hotel is a Victorian-era pub on Auburn Road in Hawthorn East that first opened its doors in 1888. Alongside the original heritage building, with its wine room and private upstairs rooms, the pub runs an open-air beer garden and The Pavilion, a modern addition built where horse stables and a motor garage once stood. The Pavilion is an atrium-style room with a retractable roof, so it can be open to the sky on a warm afternoon or closed in for winter. An open fireplace and a woodfired pizza oven anchor the space, and it has its own bar. Groups can book a section for around 50 seated or 65 standing, or take the whole Pavilion for up to 100 seated or 210 standing. Adding the raised deck that overlooks the beer garden lifts the cocktail capacity to 250. The Pavilion is reached through the beer garden and the front bar and is the part of the pub with accessible facilities. Function catering comes from the pub kitchen. Canapé packages run from six to ten pieces per guest, there are two- and three-course shared set menus, a premium alternate-drop option, grazing displays priced by group size, and a self-serve barbecue package for groups of 100 or more. Drinks can be covered by standard, premium or deluxe packages for two to four hours, or by a bar tab that can be topped up or switched to a cash bar during the night. Cocktails or shots on arrival and a champagne tower can be added. The functions team plans each event and can tailor menus to suit the group.

The highlight of what is a dispiriting high street. The building is gorgeous and even if it is part of the The pass ecosystem with its macro brews this place has been well preserved. Nice vibe on a Saturday, it was cold…
