White Room Studio runs paint and sip sessions from a factory unit on Birdum Street in Moorabbin. The format is relaxed: guests bring their own drinks and snacks, including alcohol, and the studio provides glasses, platters, plates and cutlery along with every art supply needed – a 50 x 40 cm canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, a table easel and an apron. A host leads the group through the painting step by step, topping up paint and offering tips, while music plays in the background, and everyone takes their canvas home. Private bookings suit birthdays, hens nights, team building, mums' groups and family get-togethers. The studio needs at least eight guests to run a private function in-house and fits groups of up to 15, and it can also bring sessions to your own venue. Each group picks its painting from the online gallery – lemons, flamingos, cacti, florals, portraits and more – and the design chosen sets the price, which starts at $55 a head. Many designs let painters swap colours to make the piece their own, and the paint-your-pet and paint-your-mate sessions turn a photo into a canvas. Sessions run for two to two and a half hours depending on the painting, so arrive a little early to pour a drink and put an apron on. If the occasion calls for cake or speeches, the studio can be booked for an extra hour beforehand, priced by group size. Children are welcome with a parent, and dedicated kids' birthday parties cater for 20 to 25 children with a shorter painting session and time for candles. Parking is on the street, and private function deposits are non-refundable.
