About ArtBar Moorabbin
ArtBar is a paint and sip studio on Chesterville Rd in Moorabbin, decorated floor to ceiling with bright murals and fitted with its own licensed bar. Classes are led by the studio's resident artist, Eddie Balic, a muralist and portrait painter, who takes the room through each painting one step at a time. Most guests have never painted before, and the process begins with a simple pencil outline on the canvas before any colour goes on. A class lasts about two and a half hours, including the first half hour to arrive, order a drink and find your seat. Everyone gets an apron, an easel, paints, brushes and a 40 x 50cm canvas, plus a bag to carry the finished piece home. You can bring your own snacks, cheese boards or chips, but not your own alcohol, as drinks come from the bar and can be taken to your easel. Book with friends and note their names so the team can seat you together. For a celebration, the whole studio can be reserved for a private function with a minimum of 12 guests, and you choose the painting from its library of designs. It seats up to 28, with room for a few more given 30 days' notice. Hens nights, birthdays, baby showers, girls' and guys' nights out and corporate groups all use it this way. Children aged eight and up can have their own art party, with families welcome to bring food and cake while the adults wait in the bar. Group public classes take painters from 12, and under-18s need their own ticketed seat.
