About Bayside Paint and Sip
Bayside Paint and Sip is a cosy painting studio in the Seaview Village shops in Beaumaris, run by artist and former dance teacher Maryse. Sessions are built for people who are sure they can't paint as much as for those who can: beginners are guided through the artwork step by step, while more confident painters can mix their own palette or head off in their own direction. Each guest gets an easel, canvas, brushes, paints, a blending plate, water and a cloth, plus an apron. For celebrations, the studio takes private bookings for a minimum of 8 and maximum of 14 guests, so hens parties, birthdays, catch-ups and team nights have the room to themselves. You choose the day and time and pick one painting from the studio's gallery, which runs from bright tropical sunsets and koi to Picasso-style faces and peacocks. Private sessions can be arranged on weeknights as well as weekends by emailing the studio. Food and drinks are entirely BYO, which keeps the cost down. The studio provides a fridge, ice trays, wine, champagne and water glasses, platters, plates, cutlery, bottle openers and paper towels – just bring the wine, bubbles and nibbles, or order takeaway from the fish and chip shop around the corner. Sessions run for about two hours, and guests are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to settle in, pour a drink and find a seat.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can come to a private booking?
Private sessions need at least 8 guests and take up to 14. Your group chooses the day, time and one artwork from the studio's selection, and bookings can be made for weekdays as well as weekends.
What does a private session cost?
Private parties are booked at $59 per person on the studio's website, and there are no group discounts on private bookings. Public classes range from $35 to $65 per person depending on the artwork.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes – everything is BYO, and the studio doesn't sell food or drinks. A fridge, ice, glassware, platters, plates, cutlery and bottle openers are supplied, and takeaway from nearby shops is fine.
How long does a session run?
Around two hours, though more detailed paintings can take a little longer. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start to find a seat, unpack your nibbles and put on an apron.
How do we find the studio?
It's Shop 4 at 350 Balcombe Road in the Seaview Village shops, behind the fruit and vegetable shop and facing the carpark. The entrance is on the Michael Street side rather than Balcombe Road itself.
