About The Third Tier Tea Room
The Third Tier Tea Room on Nicholson Street, Brunswick East, takes its cue from the English afternoon tea tradition and dresses it up with French and English styling: a painted sky across the ceiling, marble underfoot, upholstered chairs and gold-rimmed bone china. Stands are tied with ribbons, and the team encourages guests to come in their most glamorous outfits to suit the setting. There are three high tea menus. Ruby brings housemade scones with orange zest, citrus cream and berry jam, along with finger sandwiches and crispy chicken bao. Sapphire adds a middle tier of beef sambousek, mushroom and leek quiche and arancini, with prawn bao below. Diamond swaps in desserts such as hazelnut mille-feuille, lemon tart, macarons and cannoli, plus a 12-hour braised lamb bao, coffee and a non-alcoholic bubbly on arrival. Each menu comes with a bottomless pot of tea. Children under 12 have their own stand with scones, a mini cupcake, a chicken slider and a beef pie, and gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan versions can be requested. The room is set up for celebrations as much as casual catch-ups, and is often booked for bridal and baby showers, birthdays and family occasions. Tables are reserved with a deposit for each guest, and the team confirms the date and time after your request. For a group wanting the whole space, private functions start from a $2,000 minimum spend, with a 50% deposit and final numbers due 72 hours ahead. The tea room is halal, and its drinks list covers loose-leaf teas, coffee, iced drinks and mocktails.

How much is high tea at The Third Tier?
The Ruby high tea is $49 for each person, Sapphire is $75 and Diamond is $85, each with a bottomless pot of tea. The children's high tea for under-12s is $45, and gluten-free or vegetarian swaps carry a $10 surcharge each.
Can we hire the whole tea room for a shower or party?
Yes. Private functions have a $2,000 minimum spend and need a 50% deposit to lock in the date. Final guest numbers are locked in 72 hours before the event.
How do table reservations work?
Reserve online with a $25 deposit for each guest. The team then contacts you to confirm the date and time; if they cannot fit you in, the deposit is refunded, but once confirmed it is non-refundable.
Is alcohol served?
The Third Tier is a halal venue. Its drinks list runs to loose-leaf teas, coffee, iced drinks and mocktails, and the Diamond menu includes a non-alcoholic bubbly when you arrive.
When is the tea room open?
Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 3pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. A 10% surcharge applies on Sundays and 15% on public holidays.
