About Moving Melodies Entertainment
Moving Melodies Entertainment is the business of DJ and MC Gideon, who has spent 28 years playing functions around Melbourne and has more than 1,275 events behind him. Weddings make up a large share of his calendar, alongside engagements, milestone birthdays, school formals, club presentation nights and end-of-year corporate functions. Every booking starts with a complimentary one-hour consultation, either face to face or over Zoom, to work through the formalities and the music. You can choose tracks from his Easy Select Song List or send a Spotify playlist, and requests are taken on the night. A phone call the day before the event confirms the running order, so there are no surprises once guests arrive. The standard package suits groups under 100 and runs for five hours: two RCF 15-inch speakers, a Pioneer XDJ-RX3 controller, a GigBar Move with uplights and light tubes, a haze machine, a black or white DJ booth and a roving microphone. Larger crowds get subwoofers, extra uplights and moving-head lights. Gideon is set up and playing before guests walk in. As an MC he announces the entrances, speeches, cake cutting and first dance, and keeps in touch with the photographer and venue staff so nobody misses a key moment. Is there a planning meeting before the event?
Yes. Each booking includes a free one-hour consultation in person or on Zoom to go through formalities and music, plus a detailed phone call the day before the function.
How do we choose the music?
Pick tracks from the Easy Select Song List sent after your deposit, share a Spotify playlist, or simply describe the vibe and let Gideon read the room. Guest requests are welcome on the night.
Can Gideon also be our MC?
Yes. MC duties are an add-on: $350 for weddings and $100 for corporate functions. He announces entrances, speeches, cake cutting and dances and liaises with your other suppliers.
What equipment comes with a package?
The standard five-hour package includes two RCF 15-inch speakers, a Pioneer XDJ-RX3, a GigBar Move, uplights, light tubes, a haze machine, a DJ booth and a roving mic. The larger package adds subwoofers and more lighting.
What does extra time cost?
Additional hours are $200 per hour for weddings and $180 per hour for corporate events. Extra speakers or subwoofers are $50 each, and the audio guestbook can be hired for $299.
