About Top Dog Entertainment
Top Dog Entertainment is a Port Melbourne entertainment agency that has been booking performers since 1990. Its roster covers DJs, DJ bands (a DJ with live vocalists or instrumentalists), DJ hybrids, acoustic soloists and duos, singers, pianists, strings, jazz groups, party bands, dancers and roving acts, for weddings, corporate functions, major events and private celebrations such as engagement parties, end-of-year functions, formals and bar and bat mitzvahs. The agency matches artists to each brief, or you can request a specific performer. Clients get one point of contact, a tailored presentation of available acts with videos and audio samples, and an online form for music choices, Spotify links and do-not-play songs. The office handles artist briefings and liaises with the venue and other suppliers on bump-in and technical requirements, and you are welcome to meet the team at the office before booking. Party bands range from four-piece line-ups to 11-piece big bands, playing classic covers, pop, rock, disco, Motown, soul and big band music, with AV and lighting arranged. Most bands play three 45-minute sets across a four to five hour call time, with a playlist running in the breaks. For ceremonies and pre-dinner drinks there are acoustic soloists and duos on guitar, piano, violin, cello or harp, plus sax players and vocalists. The dancers bring Brazilian, showgirl and Studio 54 styles, and can perform a feature show, stage a surprise flash mob or run a dance lesson for guests. DJs bump in an hour before their set, guests can request songs on the night, and an MC service is available from some artists for an extra fee.

Can we choose which DJ or band Top Dog Entertainment sends?
Yes. You can ask for a specific artist, or let the agency match one to your brief and music taste. You see videos and audio samples first, and some artists carry a higher rate than others.
How long do the bands play for?
Most events run four to five hours, and bands usually play three 45-minute sets in that time. Sets can be split differently to suit your running order, with a playlist covering the breaks.
When does the DJ set up?
A standard DJ booking bumps in an hour before the set starts, or 30 minutes if the venue or an AV company is supplying the equipment. Pack down happens straight after the final set.
Do performers need meals?
Musicians and performers booked for four hours or more need a hot meal and refreshments at the client's cost; under four hours, only water is required. Many venues offer discounted crew meals.
How do deposits and cancellations work?
A 50% deposit secures the entertainment, with the balance due 14 days before the event. Cancelled bookings forfeit the deposit, and cancellations within 14 days of the date incur the full fee.
