About Hey Jack
Hey Jack is a Melbourne creative house that puts wedding entertainment, photography and film under one roof. On the music side it books a curated roster of soloists, acoustic duos and trios, string players, harpists, saxophonists, full bands and DJ hybrids – performers who add sax, violin, guitar or keys over a DJ set. Most couples start with the ceremony. A violinist, cellist, harpist or acoustic singer can play guests in, take you down the aisle and cover the signing, then carry on through canapés. For the reception there are six curated formats, from a DJ on their own to DJ bands, wedding bands and a roving six-piece horn act that moves through the crowd. Full-day packages pair live sets with a DJ – four hours of live music followed by three hours of DJ, for example, or two hours live ahead of a five-hour DJ reception. Planning runs through your own online portal, where you add song requests, preferred genres and the running order of the day. Each wedding has a dedicated event planner who coordinates timings with the venue, and every performer is insured, with backup talent available if plans change. Musicians can also learn a special song for the aisle or first dance for an extra fee. The same roster plays corporate parties, brand launches, fundraisers, end-of-year Christmas functions and private birthdays, with DJs covering current pop, lounge, house and 70s to 90s classics.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Hey Jack charge for wedding music?
Live musicians start at $1,090 plus GST ($1,199 including GST) for a soloist covering the ceremony and canapé hour. Bigger line-ups and full-day packages are quoted for your date and chosen acts.
Can we have both live music and a DJ?
Yes. The Perfect Combo package pairs four hours of live music with a three-hour DJ set, while Mic and Base has two hours of live music and then five hours of DJ. DJ-sax, DJ-violin and DJ-guitar hybrids are also on the roster.
Can the musicians learn a song that is not on their list?
They can learn a song they approve for key moments such as the aisle walk or first dance, at $150 plus GST per song. Other requests outside an act's set list also carry an extra fee.
When do the musicians arrive and what do they need?
Performers usually arrive about an hour before they start to set up, and Hey Jack sorts out logistics with your venue. For bookings of three hours or more, a hot meal and drinks for the musicians must be provided.
Does Hey Jack play events other than weddings?
Yes. It supplies DJs, bands and acoustic acts for corporate parties, brand launches, fundraisers, end-of-year Christmas functions and private celebrations such as birthdays.
