About Film and Foliage

Film and Foliage is the floral studio of Ash, a wedding florist with around 700 weddings to her name. Her style is organic and generous: ceremony spaces that read like a meadow sprung up for the afternoon, flower towers framing the aisle and long tables heaped with blooms. Rather than working from stem counts, she asks couples for a mood, the feel of the day and any flowers with meaning, then designs from there. Much of the work happens at Hunter Valley vineyards and estates. The studio names Bimbadgen Palmers Lane, Chapel Ridge, Darkhorse, Greystone, Krinklewood, Redleaf, Stonehurst, The Woodhouse and Wallalong House among the venues it decorates most often, and couples from Krinklewood, Redleaf and Tocal Homestead have written about their ceremonies. Booking starts with a short form, then a video call to talk through the vision and gather details. A custom quote with transparent line-item pricing and a mood board follows, and a signed contract plus a 20% booking fee secures the date. A detailed planning meeting six to eight weeks before the wedding settles the final design, and elements can be added or moved around until then. Sustainability is built in. Flowers are bought from Australian growers only, designs are foam-free, mechanics are reused, and ribbons, napkins and runners use natural fibres. Only about 20 weddings are taken each year, and bookings open 12 months ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Which Hunter Valley venues does Film and Foliage work at?

Regular venues include Redleaf and Krinklewood estates, Bimbadgen Palmers Lane, Stonehurst, Greystone, Darkhorse, Chapel Ridge, The Woodhouse and Wallalong House.

How far ahead should we book?

Bookings open 12 months in advance and the studio takes about 20 weddings a year, so get in touch as soon as you have a date and venue.

Do we need to know about flowers before we enquire?

No. Most couples bring a mood or a few images, and the florist suggests flowers, colours and installations to suit the venue, season and styling.

Can we change the quote after booking?

Yes. Pieces can be added or swapped as the vision develops, and everything is finalised at a planning meeting about six weeks before the wedding.

Does Film and Foliage do events other than weddings?

Yes. Florals for businesses, private events and styled shoots can be arranged by emailing the studio with your requirements.
