About Cole Studios
Cole Studios is a photography and film business run by Jason Cole, who has been shooting weddings for more than 25 years. The studio sits at Tullimbar in the Shellharbour area, and most of its wedding work happens around Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and further down the South Coast. The style is natural and unforced during the day, with Jason stepping in to guide portraits when it helps. What sets the studio apart is its lighting. Alongside soft available light and black-and-white images, the team brings battery-powered studio flashes for outdoor portraits, which lets them hold the colour in a bright or stormy sky while still lighting the couple properly. Indoors and in candlelit rooms they lean on the light already there, and evening receptions and after-dark portraits are a regular part of the job. Video is handled in-house too. Wedding films are shot on several cameras in 4K with dedicated audio, so vows, speeches and the music on the dance floor come through clearly, and each film is cut as a short cinematic story. Drone work is flown by CASA-licensed pilots and can be added for aerial photos or footage of the venue and the celebration. There are no fixed packages. Couples choose photography, film, drone or a combination, pick which parts of the day to cover, from preparations and the ceremony to formal portraits and the reception, and the studio prepares a quote to match. How is pricing worked out?
Pricing is quoted per wedding. You list the services you want, the parts of the day to cover and roughly how many hours, and the studio sends back a personalised quote.
Do you fly a drone at weddings?
Yes. Drone photos and 4K footage are flown by CASA-certified pilots and can be added to photo or film coverage where the venue allows it.
Can you handle night-time and low-light receptions?
Yes. The team works with available light indoors and uses portable studio lighting for outdoor and after-dark portraits, so evening receptions are well covered.
