About Poppy Peterson Photography
Poppy Peterson, known to clients as Pops, is an AIPP-accredited photographer who has run her business for more than ten years from a light-filled upstairs studio at 44 Atchison Street in the Wollongong CBD. Before photography she spent a decade in film and television casting, and that experience of putting nervous people at ease carries into every booking. Much of her studio work is newborn and family portraiture, but she also covers weddings and a wide range of events. Event work includes birthday parties, christenings and baptisms, pre-wedding celebrations, corporate functions and music festivals. Before the day you agree on the look you want, how much coverage you need and any must-have shots. At family gatherings she blends in and photographs what happens, then adds posed groups if you would like them, so hosts can enjoy the party rather than direct it. Event photography is charged at $350 an hour, with a three-hour minimum for parties, christenings and festivals and a two-hour minimum for corporate events. Every image is lightly edited and travel is included in the rate. For weddings, Poppy works quietly and candidly, watching for the reactions of parents and grandparents, the uncle who takes over the dance floor and a few calm minutes alone with the couple. Wedding packages generally sit between $4,000 and $6,000, and she is open to discussing a budget. She travels throughout Wollongong and Kiama and further afield on request.
