About Sol Flare Photography
Sol Flare Photography is run by Bec, a Wollongong local who grew up in the Illawarra on Dharawal Country. Weddings, elopements and couples sit at the centre of her work, from beach ceremonies to vineyard celebrations and micro-weddings. Her style is warm and natural, shot mostly in available light with a strong lean towards golden hour. Sessions are relaxed, with plenty of laughter along the way. She calls the approach gently prompted documentary: candid storytelling through the day, with relaxed guidance when it is time for portraits. Bec came to photography after about 15 years in marketing, much of it in hospitality, and taught herself the craft. She shoots on Canon R5 and 5D Mark IV bodies and can bring a drone, a polaroid or film cameras when a couple would like a different look. Full wedding packages cover four to eight hours, while smaller elopement packages suit up to 40 guests. Engagement and surprise proposal shoots take place at Illawarra and Kiama locations around sunrise or sunset. Couples who enquire receive a detailed package guide to help them choose coverage. Bec replies by email within a few days, then talks through availability and plans by video call, phone or email, whichever suits.
