Tilly May's is the rooftop bar above The Trinity, a pub on the corner of Crown and Devonshire streets in Surry Hills that has traded since 1882. A light rail stop sits at the door, and Central Station's Devonshire Street exit is a short walk away. Upstairs the look is vintage Surry Hills, with warm lighting, exposed ceilings and old timber, and each space is named after a character from the area's colourful past. The whole bar can be booked exclusively for 70 to 90 guests, with a private bar, a projector screen, a sound system for playlists or DJs, and furniture that can be rearranged or cleared for a dance floor. The retractable roof closes over the room when the weather turns. Smaller groups can book a section instead: Divine's Dining Room behind a gold curtain for seated dinners, Leigh's Lounge by the fire for up to 20, or Annie's Area beneath the roof with high tables for up to 50. The rooftop has its own bathrooms and wheelchair access. Catering comes as canapé packages in four sizes, from four pieces per guest up to a ten-piece spread, plus an antipasto station, a shared set menu and a shared banquet where you pick two dishes per course. Drinks packages for events of 30 or more cost $70 per person for three hours or $80 for four on the standard list, and $80 or $95 on the elite list, with cocktails on arrival for $22 per person. Prepaid bar tabs are also available. A 25% deposit holds the date, and BYO isn't accepted.
