About The Chippo Hotel
The Chippo Hotel on Abercrombie Street in Chippendale runs as a fully vegan pub, and it doubles as a local live music and comedy venue. Most weeks bring band nights and DJ sessions, stand-up and improv comedy shows, a Tuesday trivia night and a Wednesday pool competition, so the place has a busy, social feel. Four areas can be booked for functions. The Den is the largest, taking 80 seated or 180 standing. The Sports Bar holds 40 seated or 60 standing, the Beer Garden holds 30 seated or 50 standing, and The Nook is a small space for 9 seated or 20 standing. The beer garden is green and leafy in summer, and in the cooler months a fire pit becomes the gathering point. Everything on the menu is plant-based, covering vegan versions of pub staples such as schnitzels, parmas, burgers, loaded fries, tacos and fish and chips, with gluten-free options marked. The bar carries local craft beers, cruelty-free cocktails, wines and mocktails. For events, the pub points guests to its catering arm, Mama B's Catering, which has full function menus and packages.
