About Sofia on Cleveland
Sofia on Cleveland occupies the first floor of a heritage building at 433 Cleveland Street, above Bar Cleveland, with its entrance next to the hotel's bottle shop. It is a Southern Mediterranean grill and cocktail lounge with a Greek accent, cooking with olive oil from the owner's family groves, and it takes private events seven days a week. Hire the whole venue and you have the run of a room with exposed brick, timber ceiling beams, shuttered windows, velvet and leather lounges, a fireplace and a long bar. The functions page puts seated banquets at a maximum of 60 and stand-up parties at up to 150 for a stand-up canapé party (another line on the same page gives 120 standing). For smaller dinners there is a private dining room seating 24 at a banquet table, and weekday corporate meetings for 12 to 50 run between 9am and 4pm. Exclusive hire works on a minimum spend that covers food and drinks: $7,000 for lunch Tuesday to Sunday, $8,000 for Monday lunch, $10,000 for dinner Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and $14,000 on Friday and Saturday nights. Food can be canapés (four, six or eight per person), grazing platters or share-style banquets. DJs are allowed for exclusive-use events, other entertainment needs the venue manager's approval, and a smart dress code applies. Glitter, confetti and open-flame candles are not permitted.

Yes, DJs are permitted when you have the venue exclusively. Any other entertainment has to be approved beforehand by the venue manager.
Are there extra charges?
Sundays and public holidays attract a 10% surcharge. Parties of 24 or more add a 5% gratuity, and from 50 guests a further 5% service charge is added.
