About Level One @ Cargo Bar

Cargo Bar is a two-level bar and restaurant at 52-60 The Promenade on King Street Wharf, looking straight across Darling Harbour. It works as a waterfront bar by day and a late-night dance venue on weekends, trading until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Wynyard station is about five minutes away on foot, Town Hall about nine, and the Barangaroo ferry wharf is next door. Level One is the upstairs floor, and it can be hired exclusively for up to 400 guests standing or 50 seated. It has its own entrance from Lime Street, a long marble cocktail bar that glows purple and blue after dark, and a mix of couches and high tables both inside and out on the balconies over the water. Exclusive hire runs until 10pm on Fridays and from 4pm to 8pm on Saturdays. Smaller groups can book parts of the level instead: the cocktail bar (100), the cocktail bar with the middle balcony (150), the Captain's Lounge (50) or the North, Middle or South balcony (50 each). Level One has no wheelchair access; the ground floor does, through the wharf entrance. Canapé packages are $48, $58 or $73 per person for six, eight or ten pieces, with at least 20 guests, and platters or grazing stations such as tacos, cheese and charcuterie or a chocolate fountain dessert station can be added. Drinks packages start at $48 per person for two hours, and a bar tab or cash bar is also available. The events team can arrange extra AV, styling, entertainment and door security.

Pricing

Canapé packages are $48 per person for six pieces, $58 for eight and $73 for ten, minimum 20 guests. Platters of 25 pieces cost $120 to $190, and grazing stations are $28 per person for groups of 40 or more. Drinks packages run from $48 per person for two hours to $98 for four hours of the deluxe list. Add-ons include rosé or bottled beer at $5 per person, a house spirit upgrade at $14 per person per hour (up to three hours) and arrival cocktails at $18 per person. A door host or security guard is $55 per hour.

Food

Canapés include Pacific oysters, roast duck cigars, rice paper rolls, bao buns, wagyu and falafel sliders, arancini and fish and chips, with brownies and macarons for dessert. Platters cover sliders, oysters, sushi, spring rolls and pies, and grazing stations offer tacos, cheese and charcuterie or a Belgian chocolate fountain with fruit and pastries. Low gluten, low dairy, vegetarian and vegan options are marked.

Beverages

Standard, premium and deluxe packages cost $48, $59 and $71 per person for two hours, $61, $73 and $84 for three, and $75, $87 and $98 for four. In private spaces the first round is poured for arrival and staff top up drinks through the event. A bar tab with a limit you set, or a cash bar, can be used instead of a package.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can Level One hold?

Up to 400 standing or 50 seated when hired exclusively. Sections can be booked separately: the cocktail bar for 100, the cocktail bar and middle balcony for 150, and the Captain's Lounge or any single balcony for 50.

When can Level One be booked exclusively?

On Fridays exclusive use runs until 10pm, and on Saturdays the level can be taken exclusively between 4pm and 8pm. Talk to the events team about other days.

Is Level One wheelchair accessible?

No. Wheelchair access is through the wharf entrance to the ground floor only; there is no access to Level One.

Can we bring a cake and decorations?

Yes, and there is no cakeage fee. Decorations are fine as long as they are not messy, and glitter, paint and confetti are not allowed.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual. No beachwear, gym wear, thongs or athletic shoes, no singlets for men, and dress shorts need a collared or button-up shirt. Minors must leave before 4.30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.
