About Dulcie's Kings Cross
Dulcie's is a basement cocktail bar at 44B Darlinghurst Road, reached by a staircase down from the street in the middle of Kings Cross. The bar takes its name and its look from Dulcie Deamer, the writer who presided over the area's bohemian crowd in the 1920s and 30s, and the room leans into that era with velvet booths, framed pictures, lamps and low candlelight. Day to day it trades as a walk-in bar with live jazz on Thursday nights. For private events the whole venue is reserved, so your group has the room to itself rather than a roped-off corner. It holds up to 60 guests and suits cocktail-style gatherings where people mingle, move between the booths and the bar, and keep the music going late. The venue lists birthdays, hens nights, engagement parties and product launches among the events it hosts, and it is equally happy with a quieter night built around good drinks. Everything on the bar is made with Australian spirits, and the cheeses and meats come from local producers. The events team works with each host on food and drinks packages, and full-venue hires can add whisky and spirit tastings, a cocktail class or a champagne tower. The team can also connect you with performers, musicians and burlesque dancers to turn the night into more of a show. Prices are quoted on enquiry, and a 10% service fee applies to groups of seven or more.
