About Club on East
Club on East is the local club on East Parade in Sutherland, trading seven days with Mike's Grill, a cafe, a sports bar, a cocktail bar and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. It began life as the Sutherland United Services Club, founded by returned servicemen after the First World War and licensed in 1947, and today it runs a set of function rooms alongside its bars and dining. There are four spaces to choose from. Function Room 2 suits around 50 guests and holds 70 at most. Function Room 3 is the larger hall, seating 160 or taking 200 in a theatre layout. Open the two into one and you get the club's biggest space, which fits 300 people, or 270 when set theatre style, along with a dance floor, which makes it the pick for a big engagement party or milestone birthday. The Dining Room seats up to 80, and the Cocktail Lounge, a smart lounge-style room, fits 80 on its own or 160 when joined with the Dining Room using a mix of seating. The club lists engagements, reunions, birthdays and anniversaries among the events it hosts, as well as corporate functions. Menus are put together for each occasion and the functions team handles the planning.
