About The Travelling Tavern
The Travelling Tavern is a pedal-powered pub that rolls through The Rocks, started by Irish-born founder Shauna after she came across pedal pubs on social media and wanted one in Sydney. Up to 15 riders sit along a long timber bar, pedal together and let a driver handle the steering, while the music plays and the harbour comes in and out of view between the sandstone buildings. Each tour lasts about 75 minutes and is booked by a single group, so there are no strangers on board. Two drinks per rider are included, chosen ahead from a menu of gin sodas, premixes, craft beer, wine and alcohol-free options, and more can be bought from the stocked bar during the ride. The route takes in stops at pubs in The Rocks where the group can hop off and stretch. Riders can plug in their own playlist, bring along games by arrangement, and dress the bike up for the occasion, as long as decorations are tied on rather than taped and the logo stays clear. It suits hens and bucks groups, birthdays and work Christmas outings that want something active before dinner or drinks. Every rider must be 18 or older and show ID, and everyone signs a waiver before setting off. Seats at the back need no pedalling, which helps anyone needing extra support. Tours run on Saturday afternoons, and other days and times can be requested, with a deposit holding the date.

Frequently asked questions
How many people fit on The Travelling Tavern?
One bike carries up to 15 riders. Tours are private to one group, and there are no single-seat tickets for joining someone else's ride.
Are drinks included in the tour?
Yes, each ticket includes two drinks, which you pre-order from the online menu. The bike is stocked with more beer, wine, gin sodas, premixes and zero-alcohol drinks to buy on the day.
Is there a minimum age?
All riders must be 18 or over, and IDs are checked before the tour leaves. Anyone who arrives already showing signs of intoxication can be refused without a refund.
Where do we meet and what should we wear?
Meet 15 minutes before your start time on Cumberland Street in The Rocks, outside or within sight of The Glenmore Hotel. Wear comfortable clothes for pedalling and closed shoes rather than sandals or thongs.
What happens if it rains or gets too hot?
Tours go ahead in light rain. If a thunderstorm is forecast you are told two hours ahead and offered a new date, and on days of 36 degrees or more you are contacted by 10am to reschedule.
