About Reptiles Up Close
Reptiles Up Close is a travelling reptile education show that brings live reptiles to children's parties, schools and events around Greater Sydney and the Blue Mountains. It has been running shows since 1995, and every presentation is led by Brett Peters, who has more than 30 years of experience in reptile care, education and conservation. Brett is a qualified zookeeper and has completed TAFE courses in applied and advanced herpetology as well as wildlife rehabilitation training through Taronga Zoo. Each show lasts roughly an hour, indoors or outside, so it suits a backyard birthday as well as a hall or classroom. As each animal is introduced, the audience hears where it lives, what it does and what makes it special, and everyone gets the chance to see and touch it. The animals are used to handling, and the line-up can include a baby saltwater crocodile, pythons and other snakes, blue tongue and shingleback lizards and turtles. Presentations are adjusted to the age of the group and encourage calm, respectful participation. As well as parties, Brett presents to preschools, childcare centres and schools, fetes and community functions, care and respite groups, and film and television productions. The NSW Department of Primary Industries has approved and licensed the programs, and the business carries full insurance. Pricing is provided on enquiry.
