About Cheeky Tunes
Cheeky Tunes is a Sydney children's music company that performs inside childcare centres and early learning services, and its December show is a Christmas Puppet Show. Puppets, songs, a story and plenty of movement carry the children through a festive adventure, and rather than sitting and watching they sing along, dance and help the puppet characters as the plot unfolds. It is designed for young children and works as a centre-wide end-of-year celebration. Christmas is one stop in a full calendar of themed incursions. Others include a Lunar New Year show sung in Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese, an Around the World show with original songs written with community members from each culture, an Anzac Day musical reflection, the Cheeky Emus Aboriginal cultural workshop delivered by performers with ancestral ties to Murrawarri Country, a not-too-scary Halloween show, a Tooth Fairy dental health academy, the Mini Heroes League about insects and spiders, a Diwali show and Cheeky Chickies for babies and toddlers up to three. Every show opens with an Acknowledgement of Country and a local Aboriginal greeting. Centres can also book the weekly music programme, a 40-episode year built around Cheeky the Monkey with a new original song and prop each week and sessions pitched separately for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Performers arrive in costume with their props and instruments, run sessions in age-group rotations, and handle set-up and pack-down.
