About Broken Bay Yacht Charter
Broken Bay Yacht Charter runs private, fully crewed sailing trips from Palm Beach at the northern tip of Sydney's Northern Beaches. The company works with two Seawind 1160 catamarans, Tabasco and Salsa, 38-foot boats built for ocean cruising that give a group plenty of room to spread out across the saloon, cockpit and trampolines. Each takes up to 28 guests, and for bigger celebrations both can be booked together for as many as 56. Guests meet the team at Palm Beach Wharf and are ferried out to the boat by tender. From there the captain shapes the route around the weather, the time available and what the group wants. Shorter outings usually stay within the calm bays of Pittwater, while the longer charters head across Broken Bay into Cowan Creek and up the Hawkesbury River, often motoring or sailing for a while before dropping anchor in a national park inlet for swimming and lunch. Tabasco also holds a licence to go offshore, which is used for small-group whale watching during the humpback migration. Charters are BYO for food and all drinks, alcohol included, with no corkage charged. Each catamaran has a galley, fridges, eskies with ice, plates, cutlery and cups, a Bluetooth speaker for your own playlist and floating platforms for time in the water. Catering can be organised ahead of the day, from grazing boards to a fuller meal. The operator takes hens and bucks groups, birthdays, family days, work functions and Christmas parties, and a dinghy can run guests ashore to beaches and walking tracks where conditions allow.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Broken Bay Yacht Charter trips leave from?
Palm Beach Wharf on Barrenjoey Road. The crew meets your group at the wharf and transfers everyone to the catamaran by tender. Newport and other nearby pickups can sometimes be arranged in advance.
How many people can come?
Each catamaran carries up to 28 guests, and groups of up to 56 can book both boats. Offshore whale-watching trips are limited to 10 guests per boat.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. Every charter is BYO for food and drinks, including alcohol, and there is no corkage fee. The boats have fridges, eskies with ice and basic serving gear, and catering can be booked in advance.
How long are the charters?
Most private charters run for at least three hours. The afternoon and sunset options are three hours, a hens, bucks or birthday charter is usually 4.5 hours, and the full Signature Day is 5.5 hours.
Where does the boat go?
Shorter trips stay in sheltered Pittwater, while longer days can continue into Broken Bay, Cowan Creek and the Hawkesbury River. The captain picks the route on the day based on weather and the group.
