About Wed By Kez Celebrant
Wed By Kez is Kerryn, known to everyone as Kez, a marriage celebrant who lives in Mayfield and has been marrying couples since 2009, mostly in Newcastle. She has passed 900 ceremonies, more than 750 of them Newcastle weddings, and brings a background as a trained opera singer and a former DJ on NXFM and B105. Expect a warm, light-hearted ceremony with room for both laughter and a few tears. Nothing comes from a template. Kez writes each script around the two of you and sends a draft before the wedding, so you can confirm the facts of your story and decide how much ribbing suits the crowd. The legal part, from the processional through the vows, the signing and the final cheer, is usually wrapped up in about half an hour, and she turns up 30 minutes before the agreed start. The fee includes a no-obligation first chat online or face to face, phone and email help whenever you need it, the written ceremony, an optional rehearsal by video call and her Bose PA on the day, which takes your music over Bluetooth. She lodges the legal paperwork afterwards and helps you apply for the official certificate. A friend or coordinator is best placed to start the music on her cue. Mid-week Newcastle weddings start from $1100, with weekend dates priced by venue. All couples are welcome, whatever their gender, identity or background. Kez also runs elopements, commitment ceremonies, short registry-style weddings and baby namings, and for couples writing their own promises she has published vow books and a podcast, and she travels to the Hunter Valley and elsewhere in NSW too.
