About Jaya Bargwanna Celebrant
Merewether's Jaya Bargwanna works as both a marriage celebrant and a wedding MC, and she has married more than 350 couples. Her view is that the ceremony is not paperwork to rush through before the party but the part that sets the tone for everything afterwards, so she writes ceremonies that are warm, inclusive, genuine and a little cheeky. The writing is done together. You first meet informally, over coffee, on a walk or by video, to make sure the fit feels right. Each of you then fills in a light-hearted questionnaire, and Jaya weaves your answers and her own impressions into a ceremony told like a rom-com with the two of you in the lead roles. If you are writing your own vows, she provides a guide and a brainstorming session, then prints the final versions on keepsake cards. Full ceremonies include a Bose S1 Pro speaker and a Sennheiser cordless microphone, which helps guests and videographers alike, plus a planning book of ideas and suppliers, all the legal paperwork, and your official NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages certificate ordered, paid for and posted out. After the wedding you receive a copy of the ceremony and notes on changing your name. Travel within 100 km of Newcastle is part of the full package, which covers Lake Macquarie and reaches the Hunter Valley. Packages include the full Martini ceremony, the shorter Sidecar, the G&T elopement for under 20 guests and a legal-only option, and she also MCs receptions through the Gin Sling package, making sure the speeches, games, cake cutting and music cues all happen on time.

Which ceremony packages can Newcastle couples choose from?
Choose the full Martini ceremony, the Sidecar, a shorter ceremony of roughly 10 to 15 minutes, or a simple legal-only ceremony. Elopements under 20 guests use the G&T package, and reception MC work is the Gin Sling.
Does Jaya travel to Lake Macquarie weddings?
Yes. Full packages include travel within 100 km of Newcastle, which takes in Lake Macquarie. The legal-only ceremony includes travel within 20 km of Merewether.
Do we need to hire our own PA for the ceremony?
No, every full ceremony includes Jaya's own Bose S1 Pro speaker with a Sennheiser cordless mic, and it can play your music too. The legal-only ceremony has no PA.
Can Jaya be our reception MC as well?
Yes. She meets you ahead of the day to put the run sheet together, then introduces the formalities, runs games and the cake cutting, and keeps speeches and music cues lined up with your suppliers.
What help is there with writing vows?
Jaya sends a vow guide and runs a brainstorming session on length, tone and structure. Once written, Jaya checks the two sets against each other, adds the legal words and prints them on keepsake cards.
