About Paperboy
Paperboy is a covers band from Newcastle made up of four musicians, booked mostly for weddings and for private and corporate functions. Their songs lean towards current music, with crowd-pleasing classics mixed in, and they update the list regularly. Their job on the night is to watch the room and keep guests singing along and dancing. The band travels light. Instead of guitar amplifiers they use modern equipment, which holds the volume at a comfortable level and frees up floor space, so the whole four-piece fits where a duo normally would. All they need is a single power point and a sheltered space of about three by four metres on firm, dry ground. Outdoor gigs are fine when cover is provided, and they have played everything from small private rooms to crowds above 400. Wedding couples can book music for the ceremony and canapés too. For those parts the lead singer plays acoustic guitar through a battery PA, so no power is needed at the spot. Given six weeks' notice they will learn a special song like an entrance track or bridal waltz, or play the original through their system. They can supply a microphone for speeches on request, and a playlist fills the breaks. Every event is quoted on its own. Venues in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie carry no travel cost, and the band also plays across the Hunter Valley and Central Coast.

Frequently asked questions
What does Paperboy cost for a Newcastle wedding?
Each booking is priced individually, based on the date, how long you need them and which parts of the day you want covered. Send an enquiry for a quote.
Do Lake Macquarie venues attract a travel fee?
No. Anywhere around greater Newcastle, including the lake, involves no travel cost. Venues further out may have a travel fee based on where they are.
How much room does the band take up?
About 3 x 4 m of sheltered space on solid, dry ground, plus one power point. Without guitar amps the set-up stays small.
Will they learn our bridal waltz or entrance song?
Yes, given at least six weeks' notice. With less time, or if you prefer the original recording, they will play the track through their PA free of charge.
What time does Paperboy arrive?
Usually 60 to 90 minutes before guests, or about 30 minutes ahead for the solo acoustic set-up. Your booked hours begin when guests arrive.
