About The Rooftop Bar @ Balaclava Hotel
The Balaclava Hotel is a pub on Carlisle Street in St Kilda East, with a large central bar and bistro downstairs and a rooftop bar upstairs. The rooftop is the pub's function space, hosting engagement parties, Christmas breakups, work drinks and milestone birthdays. Reached by stairs or a lift, the Rooftop Bar has its own fully stocked bar with eight beers on tap, Bluetooth music, two wall-mounted TVs and private bathrooms. An indoor lounge bar opens onto an all-weather courtyard with roof shutters and heaters for winter and misting fans in summer. It holds up to 130 guests cocktail style and can be booked exclusively for up to five hours. DJs are allowed, with security fees applying for live music, DJs or groups over 100. Food is served as canapé packages: Mini Bite at $26 per person (five canapés), Medium Bite at $30 (five plus a substantial) and Large Bite at $40 (seven plus two substantials). Platters and pizza boards can be added. Drinks can be a bar tab, a cash bar or standard and premium packages of three to five hours, and cocktails on arrival can be arranged. An in-house digital photo booth and GIF machine is available to hire.

What are the canapé packages?
Mini Bite is $26 per person for five canapés, Medium Bite is $30 per person with an added substantial, and Large Bite is $40 per person for seven canapés and two substantials. Extra substantials are $6 each (minimum 30).
What drinks packages are offered?
Standard packages are $50, $60 and $70 per person for three, four and five hours, and premium packages are $60, $70 and $80 per person. A bar tab or cash bar is also available, and spirits can be added at bar prices.
Can we have a DJ?
Yes, DJs are permitted. Security fees apply when there is a DJ or live music, or more than 100 guests.
Is the rooftop accessible and weatherproof?
The space is reached by stairs or a lift. The courtyard has roof shutters and heating for cooler months and misting fans for hot days.
