About Shadowfax Winery

Shadowfax Winery sits on K Road in the heritage grounds of Werribee Park, alongside the mansion and the formal rose gardens. It has been making wine here since 2000, and the building itself is part of the draw: a rusted steel shell outside, terracotta tones inside, and an orange spiral staircase that leads down to the underground hall where the barrels are kept. The cellar door and restaurant open Wednesday to Sunday, with dinner on Friday nights. For events, the main reception area takes up to 115 guests seated or 200 for a cocktail party, with high ceilings and pendant lighting over long tables. Guests can start outdoors on the lawns and garden areas before moving inside. Downstairs, the Barrel Room seats up to 18 among the oak barrels and works as a dance floor once dinner is done, while the garden suits smaller outdoor gatherings. Smaller restaurant groups are capped at 30 inside and 40 outside. Catering is done in-house by the kitchen, which leans Italian and cooks pizzas in a wood-fired oven. Cocktail receptions are built around three packages – canapés with pizza, a pizza-led package, or a fork-and-walk option – and seated events can go up to a plated, wine-matched dinner. Drinks packages are put together to suit the menu, using the winery's own range. The team takes events such as corporate gatherings, Christmas parties, milestone birthdays and anniversaries as well as wedding receptions, and live music can be arranged.

Wedding reception budgets start at $79 per person. Restaurant group menus are $90 per person for the feed menu and $105 per person for the chef's menu, and groups of ten guests and up pay a $10 per person deposit up front. Event package pricing is set out in the venue's downloadable events pack. A 10% surcharge applies on weekends and 15% on public holidays.

Food

All catering is in-house, with an Italian-leaning kitchen and a wood-fired pizza oven. Cocktail events choose from a canapé package, a wood-fired pizza package or a fork-and-walk package, each with ten items per guest; dessert canapés and extra pizza can be added. Seated events range up to a plated dinner matched with wine. Dietary requirements for group bookings are needed at least two days ahead.
