About Lamaro's Hotel

Lamaro's Hotel is a pub on Cecil Street in South Melbourne that first opened its doors in the 1850s. It is now run as a gastropub with a modern Australian menu, a wood-fired grill and a wine list of more than 450 bottles, and it trades seven days from midday until midnight. The venue offers five separate areas for functions. The Atrium is a private dining room under a glass ceiling with built-in AV, seating 22 or holding 35 for drinks. The Wine Room is set around a dark-stained oak table for up to 24, with wine cellars built into the walls and screen facilities for presentations. The Birdcage at the front is an enclosed, heated outdoor room for seated dinners of up to 45. Behind the bar, the Lounge Bar is a semi-private corner by the fireplace for around 50 standing. For a bigger celebration, the Main Dining Room has its own entrance, banquette seating, a fireplace and stained glass, and takes 60 seated or 100 cocktail-style. Groups of 12 or more dine from set menus: a chef's Feed Me menu at $75 for two courses or $85 for three, or fixed menus at $90 and $100 per person, with dietary needs adjusted on request. Cocktail functions can order canapés by the piece, from bruschetta and arancini to mini burgers and schnitzel rolls. Drinks run either on a bar tab with a limit you set, or as a standard or premium package covering tap beer, four wines of your choice, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Minimum spends go towards food and drink, and the events team confirms each booking with a deposit.

The Atrium has a minimum spend of $1,500 and the Wine Room a minimum spend of $2,000; minimum spends for the Main Dining Room, the Birdcage and the Lounge Bar are quoted on request. Set menus for groups of 12 or more are $75 per person for two courses or $85 for three on the Feed Me menu, and $90 or $100 per person for the fixed set menus. A deposit secures the date and comes off the final bill, and cakes brought in attract a $5 per person cakeage fee.

Food

Seated functions use set menus: a chef-selected Feed Me menu of shared dishes, or fixed menus with choices such as steak tartare, veal schnitzel, risotto, fish of the day and scotch fillet, followed by cheese, crème brûlée or petits fours. Canapés for standing events are priced per piece, including oysters, arancini, satay chicken, dumplings, scallops, mini burgers and schnitzel rolls. Most dishes can be adjusted for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests.

Beverages

Choose drinks on consumption with a bar tab limit you set, or a package: standard at $80 per person for three hours or $95 for four, premium at $95 for three hours or $115 for four. Packages include tap beer, four wines from the list, soft drinks, juice, tea and coffee. No BYO drinks.
