Marquee Hire Melbourne is a woman-owned, family-run hire business working out of Sunshine North. It supplies marquees for backyard birthdays, engagements, weddings and work functions, and the crew handles the delivery, set-up, styling and pack-down so hosts don't have to lift a thing. Hirers can pick between two designs – a quick pop-up frame or a pavilion-style structure, the latter available with clear arched windows. Widths run from 2 to 10 metres, and several can be linked in a row, a line or an L shape to suit the space. Pop-up tents start from $100 when collected, and structural marquees start from $900 installed. Pegs are used on grass, while weights let a marquee stand on concrete or asphalt. For larger or trickier sites the team can visit to measure up and advise. Once the frame is up, the rest of the event can come from the same place. The range includes synthetic grass flooring to keep shoes and furniture out of the mud, outdoor heaters and cooling fans, and lighting from their own stock – colour-changing LED party lights, festoon bulbs, fairy-light curtains and disco balls. Gold Tiffany chairs, folding chairs, trestle tables and kids' trestle tables cover seating, while flower walls, floral arches, silk curtains, plinths and paper lantern installations dress the space. Equipment can be picked up from the Sunshine North warehouse, or delivered and collected for a fee based on location. Marquees typically go up a day or two before the event and come down the day after, and a refundable bond applies to every hire.
