About Auscarts Racing Port Melbourne
Auscarts Racing runs a purpose-built indoor kart circuit at 50 Salmon Street, Port Melbourne, with plenty of parking. The 450-metre layout has graded and sunken corners, a bridge over the pit lane, three long straights, fast sweepers and a mix of tight and wide hairpins, so keen racers have room to pass and first-timers can simply enjoy the ride. The fleet is made up of Sodikart GT5 R karts with 6.5 horsepower engines, hydraulic adjustable seats and pedals, and a top speed of about 55 km/h. Electric karts are also part of the offering. Casual racing suits small groups or solo drivers, in 15 and 30-minute blocks. Bigger groups book a race package, which gives exclusive use of the track: formats such as the Melbourne GP run a qualifier, a race heat and a grand final, with medals for the podium, while two and three-group formats handle 15 to 40 drivers. There are dedicated packages for bucks and hens parties, social clubs and teen birthdays from age 13, and the corporate team tailors events for 6 to 300 drivers, up to full venue hire for launches and team days. Between races, the bar and lounge sits right beside the racing line with a scoreboard, screens and seating for 50. A glass-walled room and a large upstairs function room can be hired for meals, presentations or meetings. Catering ranges from platters and pizzas to sliders and share packs, ordered at least four business days ahead, as outside food and drink aren't allowed apart from a birthday cake. Every driver must blow 0.00 before racing, and drinks come once you're done. Enclosed shoes are a must; helmets and hairnets are supplied.
