About Gypsy Janine Face Painting
Gypsy Janine Face Painting is run by Janine from Newport, in Melbourne's western suburbs. She began painting faces in 2006 when her daughter was a toddler, drawing on earlier work in wedding make-up and a TV and theatre course, and has since trained with well-known face painters and at face and body art conventions. The gallery shows the range: tigers, leopards and cats, butterflies and roses, superheroes and ninja turtles, sugar skulls and Christmas reindeer. Janine paints roughly 10 to 15 faces an hour depending on the design, and uses quality paints that sit softly on the skin without cracking or flaking. Bookings can mix face painting with balloon twisting and glitter tattoos, so younger and older children both find something they like. UV glow designs are available for themed parties, and extra painters and balloonists can be arranged when a lot of guests are expected. Hygiene rules are strict – one sponge per child, sanitised brush water and cotton buds for lips. Janine holds a Working with Children card and public liability insurance to $30 million, and arrives with her own small table, chairs and kit. Bookings are charged by the hour with a two-hour minimum; send an enquiry with your date and location for a quote.

Frequently asked questions
How many faces can Gypsy Janine paint in an hour?
Between 10 and 15, depending on how detailed the chosen designs are. That allows each child time to sit down, choose a design, be painted and check the mirror.
Can face painting be combined with balloons and glitter tattoos?
Yes. Face painting, balloon twisting and glitter tattoos can be combined in one booking, and extra painters or balloonists can be added for bigger parties.
How are bookings charged?
Janine charges by the hour with a two-hour minimum. Travel costs may apply for longer trips, and any parking or tolls are added to the quote.
What do I need to supply on the day?
Shade and shelter from the weather, plus water for rinsing brushes. Janine brings her own small table, chairs and all of the face painting supplies.
Is Gypsy Janine insured and checked?
Yes. She holds public liability insurance to $30 million and a current Working with Children card, and Gypsy Janine is a registered business name with an ABN.
