Face Painting Melbourne, which also trades as FPM Entertainment, is run by Antonella Ripani, an artist with a Master's degree in Public Art from RMIT. It has been sending face painters to parties and events since 2009, and has grown into a small entertainment team that can cover anything from a child's birthday at home to a large community festival. Face painting is the heart of it. The artists paint full faces, masks, butterflies, animals and festival-style glitter designs, and also offer arm and body painting for older guests. They use water-based, non-toxic paints from brands such as TAG, Kryolan, Mehron and Paradise, along with glitter made for skin. Sponges are washed at high temperature, brushes are rinsed in a brush bath after every job, and full faces are not painted on children under three, though a small arm design can be done at the parent's discretion. If you want more than face painting, the team can add a giant bubble entertainer, a fairy, stilt walkers, hula hoop acts or a roving circus act. Two combinations are set up for private parties: a Dream Package of face painting with fairy and bubble fun, and a Funtastic Package of face painting with balloon twisting. All of the artists carry their own liability cover and hold a current Working with Children Check. Prices are quoted for each booking, so the enquiry form asks for the date, the suburb and the services you are interested in. Parking and tolls are added where they apply, and there is no cancellation fee if you cancel more than three weeks out.
