About Little Ryders Pony Rides
Little Ryders Pony Rides is a mobile pony business that travels to homes, parks and kindergartens around Melbourne. Its ponies come in a range of sizes, breeds and colours, and there is no riding property to visit, so they always come to you. A pony party runs for at least an hour and a half with one pony, and children get as many lead-line rides as they like. Each pony is led by its own handler, who lifts riders on and off and keeps them steady, and every rider wears a fitted safety helmet. Kids who are unsure about riding can start by feeding carrots or brushing a pony. On request the ponies arrive as unicorns, and a box of bows, hats, feather boas and sunglasses lets children decorate the ponies and themselves. The ponies do not need much room: a front or back yard, a small patch of grass or a nature strip is enough. A clear area of about 12 by 5 metres works, 12 by 10 metres is preferred, and the team can help arrange a park with the local council. Ponies work on grass, synthetic turf or dirt rather than concrete, and need shade and water during the visit. There is no minimum or maximum guest number, though bigger groups are advised to book two or more ponies so each child gets more turns. Frequently asked questions
How much space do the ponies need?
A grassed area of roughly 12 by 5 metres is enough, though 12 by 10 metres is preferred. Front yards, back yards and nature strips all work, and the team can help arrange a park with the council.
How long does a pony party last?
Parties and gatherings run for a minimum of an hour and a half with one pony, and children can have unlimited lead-line rides during that time. Longer bookings and extra ponies can be quoted.
What does Little Ryders bring?
Saddles and tack, helmets in all sizes with hair nets and covers, mounting steps, rope fencing, hand sanitiser, carrots for feeding and brushes for grooming. Manure is picked up during the visit and taken away.
Is it safe for nervous or very young children?
Every pony has its own handler who helps riders on and off and keeps them balanced, and every rider wears a helmet. Children who are unsure can feed and brush a pony before deciding whether to ride.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
The ponies can keep working in light showers and can wait out heavier rain. If there is lightning they are loaded into the float and rides resume 30 minutes after the last strike. Extreme heat without shade may pause rides.

We had Little Ryders for a work function, and the girls were brilliant and the ponies were adorable. We had lots of happy little faces lined up to enjoy a ride.

Went to the lang lang show just for the pony rides and my daughter and she loved it. Friendly staff, well looked after ponies getting regular breaks in the heat.

Visited at the 2026 Berwick Show and my 2yo daughter adored her pony ride. The lovely ladies working with the kids and ponies were so patient and caring. Highly recommend!
