About De Iuliis Wines
De Iuliis is a family-run winery on Broke Road in Pokolbin, making wine in the Hunter since 2000 under winemaker and owner Mike De Iuliis. The grapes come from the family's own vineyards and go through a winery on the same property, where the wines are made in small batches. That setup is what makes its signature group experience possible: rather than just tasting at the counter, visitors can see where the wine is actually made. The DeLuxe Winery Tour Experience runs for about two hours. A guide walks the group through the onsite winery and explains each step from pressing to bottling, then moves into the cellar door for a tasting of eight wines served with a selection of cheese from Hunter Belle, a local maker. It costs $65 per person and suits a group that wants something with a bit more substance than a standard tasting, whether that is a birthday crew, a hens group or a team on a day out. For something shorter, the cellar door offers seated tastings. The Made by Mike tasting covers eight seasonal wines in about 45 minutes, the Single Vineyard tasting spends an hour on wines from individual family sites, and the Limited Release Shiraz tasting pours four 50ml glasses of the top reds over an hour. Families can take the Hunter Valley Family Fun Pass, which adds lunch, a cheese and fudge tasting and wildlife park entry. Lucy, the winery dog, is usually close by.

The cellar door at 1616 Broke Road, Pokolbin is open seven days from 10am to 5pm. Tastings and the winery tour can be booked ahead through the De Iuliis website.
