About Paperboy
Paperboy is a four-piece covers band from Newcastle whose work centres on weddings and private and corporate functions across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and the Central Coast. Their set lists favour modern songs, with well-known classics mixed through, and they rework them often so the music stays fresh. The aim is simple: read the room and keep people singing and dancing. The band's set-up is deliberately small. They skip guitar amplifiers and rely on modern equipment, which keeps volume under control and leaves more of the floor for guests, so a four-piece takes up about the same room as a typical duo. They need one power point and an area of roughly three by four metres, under cover and on firm, dry ground, and they will play outdoors when shelter is provided. Rooms range from small private spaces to concerts of more than 400 people. For weddings, Paperboy can cover the ceremony and canapés as well as the reception, with the lead singer playing acoustic guitar through a battery-powered PA, so no power is needed on location. Special songs such as a bridal waltz or entrance track can be learned with six weeks' notice, or the original recording played through their system. A microphone for speeches can be provided on request, and a playlist runs during breaks. Prices are quoted per event, and there is no travel charge within greater Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Paperboy charge?
Paperboy quotes each event individually, depending on whether you want ceremony, canapé and reception music and where the venue is. Send an online enquiry for a tailored price.
How much space does the band need?
About a three by four metre area out of the weather, on dry, sturdy ground, plus one power outlet. The band uses no guitar amps, which keeps the footprint small.
Can Paperboy learn our first dance song?
Yes, with at least six weeks' notice. If there isn't enough time, or you want the original recording, they can play the track through their PA at no charge.
When does the band arrive on the day?
The band usually arrives 60 to 90 minutes before guests, and the solo acoustic set-up needs about 30 minutes. Your booked time starts when guests arrive.
Is there a travel fee for Hunter Valley venues?
There is no travel charge within the greater Newcastle and Hunter Valley region. Venues outside that area may attract a travel fee, worked out from the venue location.
