About Sydney Wine Centre
Sydney Wine Centre has run wine tastings, appreciation courses and private events since 2009. Its home is The Vineyard, a private tasting room on the first floor of 119 Harris Street in Pyrmont, and it also uses the Stables conservatory at Gallon next door, as well as restaurants and offices across Sydney when a group needs more space. For a hens party, birthday, reunion or private dinner, the team builds a tasting around the group, so the wines, food and format can be tailored rather than chosen from a fixed menu. Corporate options include standing networking tastings for larger numbers, seated structured tastings for smaller groups, and a blend-your-own-wine session designed for team building. The Pyrmont room seats up to 18, and the team can also bring an event to your workplace or a venue of your choosing. The public calendar gives a good feel for the style. Cheese and wine evenings pair nine French wines with nine cheeses, the Discover nights tour Italy or Spain with a dozen or more wines and matched food, and longer courses cover tasting technique, grape varieties and food matching. Presenters include Rob Geddes, a Master of Wine, and Paul Huet. Nights are relaxed and social, guests are encouraged to ask questions, and there is no pressure to buy the wines poured. Every guest must be 18 or over.
