About The Clock
The Clock is a two-level pub at 470 Crown Street in Surry Hills, trading on this corner since 1893. Most days it runs as a busy local, with a pub menu, its own bottle shop and DJs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and its events team books groups into four separate areas for parties, celebrations and work functions. The largest is the Pendulum Lounge on the second floor, which takes up to 120 standing or 70 seated and suits big birthdays, engagement drinks and corporate nights. The Whisky Room is the most private choice, with high ceilings, its own bar and an open deck, for 60 standing or 30 seated. The Crown Street Banquette holds 30 cocktail style, and the Collins Street Corner fits 20 but can only be booked Monday to Thursday. The pub also has a balcony looking over Crown Street and a sunken courtyard. Function food comes from a separate events menu of canapés ordered by the serve of ten, such as zucchini flowers with whipped ricotta, steak tartare on toast, fried camembert and small burgers with raclette, plus platters of oysters, crispy squid, charcuterie or Australian cheeses. Catering needs 14 days' notice, and dietary needs can be flagged when you order. The venue's event pack is sent on request, and bookings start with the enquiry form on the pub's website, after which the events team follows up to plan the details.
