About Level One @ Gaslight Inn
The Gaslight Inn is a long-running pub and hotel at 278 Crown Street in Darlinghurst, close to the Oxford Street strip. Downstairs there is a long timber bar, lounge seating and an open-air deck, while the first floor, known as Level One, is set up for birthdays, farewells, staff parties and other celebrations. Level One combines two rooms, each with access to a bar. The Terrace Bar has high cocktail tables and stools against exposed brick lit pink by a Gaslight neon sign, and it opens onto a terrace where smoking is permitted; on its own it suits up to 60. The Lounge Bar is darker and cosier, with wall-to-wall leather booths, armchairs and framed retro posters, for up to 40. Book the whole level and you have room for up to 150, plus private use of the AV system, so you can run your own playlist through the house speakers or bring in a DJ who supplies their own decks and speakers. Events on this floor are semi-exclusive, because members of the public still pass through. Food is arranged on request, from platters to ordering off the bar menu. For drinks, you can set up a bar tab with a spending limit, where guests wear a wristband or quote a tab number, or run a cash bar. The level carries a $600 minimum spend on food and drink, with five hours included and no room hire; extra hours cost $100 each, and the latest finish is 1am. A $200 deposit secures the date and is credited back as a voucher on the night.

How many guests can Level One hold?
The full level takes up to 150 guests. Booked separately, the Terrace Bar suits up to 60 and the Lounge Bar up to 40, each with a $300 minimum spend.
Is the space private?
Functions here are semi-exclusive: the level is set aside for your party, but members of the public still need to pass through, and fully private hire of Level One isn't offered.
Can we have a DJ?
Yes, when you book the whole of Level One. The DJ must bring their own CDJs, mixer and speakers, as the venue doesn't lend equipment. Otherwise you can plug a phone into the in-built house system.
Are 18th birthdays or under-18s allowed?
The Gaslight doesn't host 18th birthday parties. Under-18s must each be with a responsible adult and leave by 11pm, and every guest needs valid ID.
Is Level One wheelchair accessible?
No. Because of the age of the building, none of the function spaces have disability access, so check with the team if anyone in your group has mobility needs.
