About Sirocco

Sirocco is a Seawind 1160 sailing catamaran run by the small team at Sirocco Charters, and she is built for relaxed days on the water rather than big-crowd parties. She is surveyed for 30 guests, with 20 to 30 fitting comfortably, and her cabins sleep six for anyone who wants to stay the night on the harbour. Twin hulls make her one of the steadier rides around, which suits families and first-timers. There is room to spread out at both ends. Trampoline nets at the front are the place to lie back in the sun, and at the back the doors fold up into the roof to open the cockpit into one covered social area with seating. A Bluetooth stereo handles the music, a large esky and a small fridge keep things cold, and the gas BBQ is where the skipper will happily cook for the group. Most charters run four hours: enough time to board without a rush, sail past the Opera House and under the Harbour Bridge, and drop anchor for a swim. The crew's usual stops include Rose Bay, Double Bay, Athol Bay, Taylors Bay and Watsons Bay, chosen on the day to suit the weather. A lilypad, stand-up paddleboards and plenty of pool noodles come out once you are anchored. Catering can be arranged, or pay a flat BYO fee and the boat supplies plates, cups, cutlery, platters and BBQ gear. Birthdays, hens and bucks groups, corporate outings, Christmas parties and proposal cruises are all regulars, and children of any age are welcome.

Pricing

All charters are four hours. Low season (May to August) is $450 per hour every day. High season (September to April) is $500 per hour Monday to Friday and $575 per hour on weekends, and December is $600 per hour every day. Three-hour charters are occasionally available at $650 per hour. The BYO fee is $150 flat. Wharf fees are $50 per CBD wharf, $75 per northern wharf and $100 per eastern wharf, with a $100 minimum. Public holidays add 20 per cent; Australia Day and Boxing Day are $3,500 packages for five hours and up to 30 guests, including two wharves and the BYO fee. A 50 per cent deposit secures the booking, the balance is due 14 days before, and a $2,000 credit card bond is held.

Food

Catering options can be arranged through the operator, with any food and drink orders placed at least 48 hours before the cruise. For BYO, the $150 flat fee covers disposable plates, cutlery, napkins, the use of all platters and BBQ gear, and the skipper can cook on the gas BBQ. Bring ice for the esky to keep food fresh.

Beverages

BYO drinks are allowed under the $150 flat fee, including spirits, though shots are not permitted, so bring enough soft drink to mix with. There is a large esky and a small fridge on board; bring your own ice. Wine can also be ordered through the operator ahead of the cruise.

Wharfs & Availability

The preferred pick-up is the Birkenhead Point ferry wharf, and Sirocco can board guests at other wharves around the harbour. Wharf fees are $50 per CBD wharf, $75 per northern wharf and $100 per eastern wharf, with a $100 minimum. As the boat is not kept at a marina, early loading means meeting the crew at Birkenhead about 30 minutes before departure, when they are available, for about $100. Standard charters run four hours.

We hired Lady Champagne and had a wonderful time aboard. The crew were helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely be hiring the vessel again for our next boat adventure.

Had a really wonderful time. Jono and Ash were super friendly, sailed us out to a terrific spot along the harbour and cooked up some delicious food. Would definitely recommend.
